Dispute leads to shooting in Lincoln Park: Man shot during fight likely paralyzed, police say

SAN DIEGO - A 47-year-old man was in custody Wednesday on suspicion of shooting a 30-year-old man who lives next door to him in Lincoln Park, police said.

The shooting in the 5000 block of La Paz Drive was reported at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, according to San Diego police Sgt. David Jennings.

The victim was shot once in the back with a 9mm handgun and was "probably paralyzed" but he was expected to survive, Jennings said.

The shooting arose from "a squabble, a fistfight went wrong and a gun got produced," he said.
