Disney's latest creation, based on the hit Pixar movie, brings the popular characters to life at Disney California Adventure.Visitors to Cars Land can venture through Radiator Springs, where they can hover on Luigi's Flying Tires, take a spin on Mater's Junkyard Jamboree or take a ride with friends on Cars Land's crown jewel, the Radiator Springs Racers. In the Radiator Springs Racers, two cars -- each with six passengers -- take a thrill ride around and out of town."We are a company that provides fantasies and dreams and wishes, and I hope that this is one of those things that we get to enjoy," said Disney art director Bo Bolanos. From Flo's V8 Café to Ramon's House of Body Art, and from the Cozy Cone Motel to Sarge's Surplus Hut, the movie is brought to life."Disney is best known for its storytelling and we have taken it to the nth degree here," said Disney interior designer Emily O'Brien.Last year, Disney California Adventure was the 7th-most visited theme park in the U.S. According to the Themed Entertainment Association, attendance at California Adventure has steadily increased the past five years to more than 6.3 million last year.Cars Land is expected to bump attendance up even more."We want to make sure that people feel like they're getting a real piece of Radiator Springs when they come in here," said O'Brien.Cars Land's opening coincides with the unveiling of Buena Vista Street, the new entrance to the park that harkens back to California, circa 1950."It's our obligation to keep things alive and keep up with what's out there, what's the next best thing we can deliver to our guests," said Bolanos."It was spectacular before, but this takes it to a whole new level," said visitor Jake Moyer.Thursday was a sneak peek for the media and special guests.Cars Land officially opens Friday.
