Disgraced Christian rocker Tim Lambesis claims to be atheist in interview

Singer sentenced in May in murder-for-hire plot

Christian rock singer Tim Lambesis, who was sentenced in May for trying to hire a hitman to kill his wife, admitted he is actually an atheist.

Lambesis, lead singer of the band As I Lay Dying, made the revelation in an interview with Alternative Press shortly before he was sentenced to six years in prison.

In the interview, Lambesis said he and several bandmates had become atheists but kept claiming to be Christians to continue to sell albums.

Lambesis told Alternative Press that many other Christian bands do the same thing.

Earlier this year, the 33-year-old singer pleaded guilty to a felony murder solicitation charge.

Lambesis' attorney argued that steroids the singer was taking at the time he solicited the murder affected his physiology and mental state.
