SANTEE, Calif. - A 64-year-old man was jailed in San Diego Tuesday on suspicion of murdering a female acquaintance at a home in Santee over the weekend.

Deputies went to the residence in the 10500 block of Strathmore Drive about 9:45 p.m. Sunday on a report of a disturbance and possible death there, according to San Diego County sheriff's Capt. Duncan Fraser.

They found Paul Carl Tomasini of Santee outside, suffering from apparent stab wounds, Fraser said. The woman's body was inside the house, according to the captain.

Medics took Tomasini to a hospital for treatment of the apparently non- life-threatening injuries. After questioning him, detectives arrested him on suspicion of murder and had him placed under guard at the trauma center pending his recovery and transfer to jail.

He was booked into San Diego Central Jail, according to jail records, which showed Tomasini could be arraigned as early as Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities disclosed no suspected motive for the alleged slaying and released no explanation for how Tomasini appeared to have suffered his wounds.

The suspect and the deceased woman were acquaintances, according to Fraser, who declined to provide further detail on the nature of the relationship.
