LJ JOLLA, Calif. - A 52-year-old man found in a La Jolla motel with a head injury was on life-support Wednesday, as homicide detectives sought to find out what happened to him.

A roommate called 911 from a motel in the 6700 block of La Jolla Boulevard about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, and paramedics took the man to a hospital, San Diego police Lt. Ernie Herbert said.

A hospital staffer called police about 10:30 a.m. to say the man, whose name was withheld, had an unexplained head injury, Herbert said.

Anyone with more information about what happened was urged to detectives at (619) 531-2293 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
