SAN DIEGO - San Diego police homicide detectives on Sunday are investigating the death of a man whose body was found inside a Mission Valley apartment.

Officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 700 block of Camino de la Reina at about 6:20 a.m. on a report of a death inside the apartment.

Police said a roommate reported finding the 25-year-old man dead inside the apartment when he woke up. Officers and paramedics entered the apartment, noticed blood inside and confirmed the man was dead, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicated the man may have been stabbed. His actual cause of death has not been determined yet.

Detectives are currently processing the scene for evidence and checking the complex for any witnesses.

The man has been tentatively identified but his name will not be released until it has been confirmed and his family is notified.
