IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. - A 25-year-old man was behind bars Wednesday on suspicion of torching a vehicle in Imperial Beach last month, a sheriff's detective said.
Members of the sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit determined the vehicle fire at 567 Seventh Street shortly before 5 a.m. on April 21 was intentionally set and evidence found indicated it may have been ignited with a Molotov cocktail, sheriff's Detective John Debus said.
Debus said the incident was isolated and unrelated to other recent fires in the area.
Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit detectives later identified Manuel David Oceguera as a suspect, according to Debus.
Oceguera was arrested and booked into the San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of using an incendiary device, arson and other crimes, according to Debus and online jail records.
