A San Diego County sheriff's deputy was injured Friday morning after attempting to make an arrest in Lemon Grove.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Broadway and Olive streets, according to authorities.

The deputy was attempting to question two men who may have had a pipe in their possession.

The deputy was in the process of making contact with the men, but one of them ran away. The deputy chased after him, but ended up taking a tumble.

Authorities launched a search with a helicopter and K-9 units, but the man who fled was not found. Authorities told 10News the deputy is doing fine.

Authorities told 10News one of the men was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and for being under the influence. The second man is still at large. He could face charges of resisting arrest and injury on a deputy.
