SAN MARCOS, Calif. - A nearly six-hour standoff at an apartment in San Marcos ended peacefully on Monday.
The incident began about 4 p.m. at an apartment in the 2400 block of Longstaff Court.
Authorities say a man barricaded himself and his three children inside his home following a dispute with a neighbor.
Deputies called crisis negotiators to the scene in an effort to convince the man to release the children. The man was not threatening to do anything, but he would not come out of the home, according to deputies.
At about 10 p.m., the man surrendered to deputies and was taken into custody.
The children were uninjured and are now with their mother.
Melrose Drive from Diamond Street to San Elijo Road was temporarily closed due to the incident.
