Dense fog advisory in effect until 9 a.m. for San Diego coastal areas

SAN DIEGO - Dense fog blanketed coastal areas and the far western valleys of San Diego County early Monday, reducing visibility to a quarter-mile or less, meteorologists reported.

"Motorists along portions of the 5, 15 and 805 freeways should expect pockets of sharply reduced visibilities," according to the National Weather Service, which cautioned motorists to slow down and use low beam headlights Monday morning.

The NWS issued a dense fog advisory for coastal areas and the far western valleys until 9 a.m.
