SAN DIEGO - The National Weather Service on Sunday issued a dense fog advisory for San Diego County coastal areas and western valleys. The advisory will be in effect starting at 9 p.m. Sunday until 10 a.m. Monday.

Visibility may be reduced to a quarter of a mile or less and possibly down to 200 feet, according to the NWS.

Travel may be difficult along Interstate 5, Intestate 8, Intestate 805, state Route 56, state Route 78, state Route 163, state Route 52 and state Route 67 due to the fog. Click here to check the latest traffic conditions.

Drivers are urged to slow down, use their headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of their vehicle. The NWS cautions motorists to use low-beam, rather than high-beam, headlights during foggy conditions to maximize visibility.

The foggy conditions also could cause delays at Lindbergh Field in San Diego and McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad. Click here to check the status of flights at Lindbergh Field.
