SAN DIEGO - A UPS delivery truck clipped a fire hydrant in La Jolla Thursday sending a plume of water into the air and disrupting area traffic.
10News has learned that the crash occurred at the corner of Silverado Street and Ivanhoe Avenue.
Crews from the San Diego Fire Department are at the scene and said they are working to close the valve that controls the hydrant. But so far, they’ve been unable to stop the flow of water because the valve is stripped.
Firefighters told 10News they are waiting for officials from the water department to arrive and shut down the hydrant.
It’s unclear if the damaged hydrant is causing flooding in the nearby area.
