Deep fried treats returning for 2013 San Diego County Fair

Fair officials expecting record crowds this summer

DEL MAR, Calif. - The San Diego County Fair is expecting great things this year when it opens June 6. The annual fair is already the largest in California and is now the fourth-largest in North America.

"To say that we're the fourth-largest fair in North America, the San Diego County Fair kicks you-know-what up and down the coast, including the state," said County Fair spokeswoman Linda Zweig.

This year's theme is "Game On," a tribute to America's board and video games.

Several vendors gave 10News a preview Wednesday of some of the new food items available this year. Some of the items include a cheesy bacon "bomb," wild boar bacon kabobs and a Krispy Kreme sloppy Joe.

"We thought about putting a defibrillator at our stand," said Bacon Affair owner Mike Peterson.

Zweig said they're hoping for 1.7 million visitors this year, which would top last year's record by almost 200,000.
