The death of a pedestrian who attempted to cross state Route 163 during an evening rush hour was ruled accidental by the Medical Examiner's Office, officials said Friday.

Officials said the victim was a 56-year-old woman who lived in San Diego. Her name was withheld pending family notification.

Her autopsy has not yet been scheduled, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.

The woman ran across southbound state Route 163 just north of Friars Road around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to San Diego police Officer David Stafford and California Highway Patrol dispatchers.
