Crews respond to reports of explosions, fire in Lemon Grove

SAN DIEGO - A fire that broke out in the 3500 block of Grove Street in Lemon Grove caused about $2,000 in damage, fire investigators said Monday.

Heartland Fire crews responded to reports of explosions and a fire that broke on Grove Street near Lester Avenue at about 12:45 p.m.

The blaze initially began burning a fence and "rubbish," but dispatchers said they received reports of explosions.

Crews were able to make quick work of the fire, which investigators believe may have been sparked by transients in the area.

The explosions heard may have been the fire burning aerosol cans or spray paint cans.

There were no injuries or structure damage reported.
