Crews quickly extinguish small brush fire near Interstate 8 in El Cajon

EL CAJON, Calif. - A small brush fire near westbound Interstate 8 and West Main Street in El Cajon was put out quickly by firefighters.
A dispatcher with the Heartland Fire & Rescue Department said the freeway-side blaze was spotted at 10:41 a.m. Sunday and was extinguished about 30 minutes later.
Several lanes on the westbound freeway were closed as fire crews fought the blaze, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
