Crews knock down garage fire in El Cajon

Authorities say ammunition may be inside

EL CAJON, Calif. - Crews quickly put out a fire that broke out in an El Cajon garage where there may have been ammunition stored, authorities said Friday.

The blaze was reported at 5:45 a.m. in the 100 block of North Ivy Avenue.

The person reporting the fire told authorities there was ammunition inside the garage.

Firefighters and El Cajon police responding to the scene said they heard popping sounds.

An investigation into the fire is under way.
