EL CAJON, Calif. - Fire crews knocked down a two-alarm blaze that raged through an El Cajon car dealership early Wednesday morning.
According to Heartland Fire & Rescue officials, a passing pedestrian informed an El Cajon police officer on patrol of the blaze, which broke out at 464 West Main Street at about 1 a.m.
When crews arrived, they found smoke and flames pouring out of the Rock Auto Group building.
Heartland Fire crews, the Santee Fire Department and Cal Fire crews collaborated to knock the fire down after about 25 minutes.
The fire was contained to the service area of the dealership and did not spread to vehicles parked nearby and a storage area next to the service area.
Heartland officials said damage was estimated at $200,000, and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
