SAN DIEGO - A small brush fire burned along the edge of northbound Interstate 5 near Clairemont Drive early Monday.
Fire crews were called to the scene at about 3:48 a.m.
A passing police car spotted the blaze, which burned trees and part of the freeway embankment.
Crews extinguished the blaze within five minutes.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but no structures were damaged.
