DEA says 2 arrested after marijuana operation found in burning Vista home

VISTA, Calif. - Two men were arrested Monday after crews fighting a house fire in Vista discovered an apparent marijuana growing operation inside.

According to a North County Fire Protection District dispatcher, the fire in the 1800 block of Vale Terrace Drive was reported at about 5:45 a.m.

Two people were injured in the fire -- one airlifted to UC San Diego Medical Center, the other transported to the hospital on the ground. The conditions of the injured are unknown.

Additionally, a dog was rescued from the burning home and taken to a veterinarian to be treated for burns.

According to Drug Enforcement Agency spokeswoman Amy Roderick, Vista residents Tyrone Williams and Isaac Bowers were taken into custody in connection with the discovery of 16 marijuana plants and a hash oil extraction lab in the garage of the home.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and a damage estimate was pending.
