The fire occurred at about 2 a.m. at a home on the 3600 block of Decora Circle.
A resident of the home told 10News that he had lit a fire in the fireplace earlier in the evening and went to bed, and that the fire spread to the house.
The man was able to escape the fire, but suffered chest pains. He was taken to Palomar Medical Center for treatment.
A neighbor who helped the man escape the flames suffered a hand injury.
Investigators have not confirmed the cause of the blaze. But did say the fire started in the family room.
