Bicyclist hit by car on Torrey Pines Road: Incident shuts down northbound lanes

SAN DIEGO - A bicyclist sustained serious injuries after being struck by a car on Torrey Pines Road Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened just before 12 p.m. in the 2700 block of Torrey Pines Road, according to San Diego police Sgt. Mark Taylor.

Taylor said a witness told police the bicyclist, a man in his 70s, was riding in the bike lane on the northbound side when he appeared to be struggling and began weaving on his bicycle.

The bicyclist weaved into traffic and was struck by a car driven in the No. 2 lane by a female driver, the witness told police.
