San Diego authorities say 3 kids were struck by a car in Rolando; witnesses lift car to save child

Vehicle also hit fire hydrant, police say

SAN DIEGO - A mother and her three children were struck by a car in the Rolando area, according to San Diego police.

The San Diego Police Department said the wreck occurred on 62nd and Acorn streets.

The BMW also struck a fire hydrant before stopping in front of a home.

San Diego Fire& Rescue crews said several witnesses at the scene sprang to action and helped lift the car off at least one child.

One victim was transported to Rady Children's Hospital, while another was taken to nearby Kaiser hospital.

There was no immediate word on what caused the crash.
