JACUMBA, Calif. - Plumes of smoke may be visible over southeastern San Diego County Tuesday as state firefighters perform a brush-clearing controlled burn near Jacumba, authorities advised Monday.

Climate permitting, the personnel plan to set the blaze in McCain Valley about 9 a.m. and have it extinguished by 5 p.m., according to Cal Fire.

"This burn will be canceled if the weather in the area changes and conditions are not favorable," said Mike Mohler, a fire captain with the state agency.
