Flames and smoke could be visible on Sunday as federal firefighters purposefully ignite dry brush to reduce wildfire chances east of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and north of Tierrasanta, according to base officials.

The MCAS Miramar Fire Department planned to conduct the burns in the East Miramar training area to reduce the hazard of wildfires, officials said.Flames and smoke could be visible from area roadways, including state Route 52, but no visibility restrictions were expected, officials said.The training area is east of Interstate 15 and north of Route 52.Copyright Do you have more information about this story?
