SAN MARCOS, Calif. - A contamination warning was in effect Monday following the spill of roughly 3,000 gallons of sewage near the San Marcos Creek, which flows into the Batiquitos Lagoon.

The spill from a broken 6-inch line at 2310 South Rancho Santa Fe was discovered about 3:15 a.m. Sunday and ran for about 75 minutes, according to Lisa Urabe of the Vallecitos Water District.

Crews worked to recover some of the release, and signs warning of the contamination were posted at access points, including the La Costa Golf Resort, Urabe said.
