SAN YSIDRO - A major construction project is expected to cause some delays on the southbound lanes of Interstates 5 and 805 in San Ysidro Tuesday.

Both freeways will only have one lane open from 10 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday.

On south I-5, lanes will be shut down from Dairy Mart Road to the U.S.-Mexico Border. On south I-805, lanes are shut down from south of state Route 905 to I-5.

Some ramps will be closed during the same time period including: Camino De La Paza onramp to south I-5; the south I-5 offramp to Via De San Ysidro Boulevard; the East San Ysidro Boulevard onramp to south I-805; and the south I-805 offramp to East San Ysidro Boulevard.

The project is part of a $577 million expansion that has been done in phases throughout the year. The goal of the project is to increase the number of lanes near the border.
