Composite sketches released of jewelry store robbery suspects

ESCONDIDO, Calif. - Escondido police released composite sketches of two suspects wanted in connection with a jewelry store robbery at the Westfield North County Mall.

The robbery occurred last Tuesday at the Royal Maui Jewelers. Police say the robbers, who were both armed with handguns, got away with about 40 Rolex watches worth a total of about $480,000.

One suspect (pictured above, left) is described as a black male who is 6 feet tall and in his late 20s. He was wearing eyeglasses with round frames, a long-sleeved beige Pendleton style jacket, a baseball cap, having an earring in his left ear and possibly a tattoo of a music note on left side of his neck.

The second suspect is described as a black male who is about 6 feet 1 inch tall, in his early 30s and having a muscular build. He had round diamond stud earrings in both ears and was wearing black square-framed glasses, black combat style boots that were not laced up all the way, a long-sleeved beige Pendleton shirt and an aftermarket light green camouflage hat that said "Marines" on the front of the hat.

Police say the suspects left the scene in separate light-colored cars.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact San Diego Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-TIPS. A reward up to $1,000 may be paid for information given anonymously. Royal Maui Jewelers is offering an additional $5,000 reward for information that helps identify the suspects.
