SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Community planners in Pacific Beach want to improve the experiences locals and tourists have in their small beach community.

They want Garnet Avenue to be known as a pedestrian-friendly space where people can shop and get an experience they can't buy online.

James McGuirk, a former PB resident with Q4 Strategies, believes rebranding the town will be important for its future. He's been a part of the conversation with Discover PB as they come up with concepts for the Garnet Avenue Vision plan.

"Pacific Beach as a brand, it has marks on it. That comes with being an entertainment district but also there are other reasons as well. What we want to do is rebrand that image. Pacific Beach has so much potential," said McGuirk

One idea includes turning a portion of Garnet into a one-way street in order to create more space for bike lanes, wider sidewalks, and events.

These ideas are in the very early stages and Discover PB hopes to get input from the community as they move forward. They have meetings each month that the public can attend. and comment.
