SAN DIEGO - A cold storm system from the Northwest was headed toward San Diego County Monday, threatening to being showers Thursday through early Saturday.

The National Weather Service said the storm system also would lower snow levels and possibly bring thunderstorms to the region.

"This system may also result in strong westerly winds in the mountains and deserts Wednesday, and hazardous travel through the mountain passes Friday and Saturday," according to an NWS advisory.
