Local businesswoman Dianne York says Mayor Bob Filner grabbed her buttocks

CNN first reported York's claims

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. - A San Diego businesswoman came forward Wednesday with claims that San Diego Mayor Bob Filner sexually harassed her earlier this year.

Dianne York, who owned the now-closed The Spa of La Jolla and now runs DYG Cosmetics, first came forward to CNN, telling the network Filner put his hands on her buttocks while a photo was being taken following a meeting in his office three months ago.

York told CNN her meeting with the mayor was regarding concerns about a predatory loan and foreclosure. She claims the incident was caught in a photo and others were in the room at the time.

In a news conference held Wednesday afternoon in National City, York reiterated her accusations that Filner violated her.

"I was shocked," York said at the news conference. "It was inappropriate, and I was startled at the time."

She informed the media that she has taken her claims to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

York, the 18th woman to publicly accuse the mayor of sexual harassment, did not comment further.

According to the San Diego court records, York has been a defendant in 10 civil lawsuits filed since 2010. It has been reported that she has twice filed for bankruptcy in the past 13 years.

Also at the news conference were Michael Pallamary, who has helped organize the recall effort against Filner, and Tara Jones of the National Womens Veterans Association of America. Both encouraged other alleged victims to come forward.

John Cox, who has made financial contributions to the recall effort, said Filner "has violated the trust of the people of San Diego" and called on the mayor to "do the honorable thing … to consider resigning for the good of San Diego."

The first woman to accuse Filner of unwanted advances, groping or, in some instances, forced kissing, was his former communications director, Irene Jackson McCormack. She is suing the mayor and the city for unspecified damages.
