SAN DIEGO -- San Diego police Monday sought a man who held up a Clairemont Mesa-area Papa John's at gunpoint.

The suspect walked into the pizza parlor on Genesee Avenue near Mount Alifan Drive shortly before it closed at 11 p.m. Tuesday, pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun, forced the employees to the back of the restaurant and demanded cash from the manager, San Diego police Sgt. Michael Tansey said. The robber then ran off with an undisclosed amount of money and headed west.

Police described the thief as a Hispanic man in his 30s, between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up and a bandana over his face.
