City of San Diego Parks & Recreation truck hits Clairemont home

SAN DIEGO - A city of San Diego Parks and Recreation truck hit a parked car and hydrant before hitting a home in Clairemont.

The incident was reported just before 1:20 p.m. Tuesday near Mt. Abernathy Avenue near Camber Drive.

The truck was traveling southbound on Mt. Abernathy Avenue when the driver somehow lost control and went through cable utility boxes. It then struck an unoccupied car that was parked on Camber Avenue, pushing it into the driveway of a home.

The truck crashed into a hydrant before hitting the home, causing minor damage. The living room is located on the other side of the wall that was hit by the truck. Building inspectors are on scene checking out the home's structural integrity.

Crews with the water department were called due to the broken hydrant. The water was shut off at 1:40 p.m.

Time Warner Cable service is out for customers in the surrounding area.

The driver was transported to the hospital in an unknown condition.
