CHULA VISTA, Calif. - A stop at a gas station made one man thousands of dollars richer.

The California Lottery reported Thursday that a Chula Vista man purchased two winning scratcher tickets for its Monopoly-themed game and that one of them carried the top prize of $100,000.

Roderick Pacis hit the winners at a Shell station at 350 East H St., according to the California Lottery. He made $5 off a $3 ticket, and a $5 ticket got him the jackpot.

In the Monopoly game players get prizes by matching the numbers on their tickets to the winning numbers. Symbols on the tickets can increase the prize amounts.

Pacis plans to spend some of the winnings on his upcoming wedding, pay down a little debt and put the rest into savings, according to the California Lottery.
