SAN DIEGO - The California Highway Patrol reported a number of crashes Friday throughout San Diego County.

Authorities lifted a Sig Alert Friday after an overturned big rig blocked the 47th street offramp on north Interstate 805.

The crash was reported at 4:10 a.m. and initially involved just one vehicle. At about 4:18 a.m., two other vehicles crashed into the overturned truck.

Crews closed the 47th Street offramp because of the crash, which spilled fuel on the roadway.

As off 8 a.m., the offramp was cleared. Authorities said there were minor injuries sustained in this incident.

Another big rig crash in Del Mar prompted lane closures on north Interstate 5 at Via De La Valle.

A FedEx semi-truck hauling two trailers jackknifed at around 1:47 a.m. The rain prevented crews from lighting flares. This crash cleared shortly after 4:30 a.m.

Other crashes reported since midnight:

• Cars reportedly spun out and flooding was reported on south Interstate 15 at the Friars Road onramp
• A tow truck crashed around 1:45 a.m. into a guard rail and flipped on I-805 at E Street in Chula Vista
• In National City, a car spun out and crashed into the center divide on Interstate 805

Rain, snow, thunder storms through Southern Calif

The California Highway Patrol says Interstate 5 through the Grapevine is closed because of ice and snow. To the east, Interstate 15 through Cajon Pass is open but the cold storm that blew through Ventura and Los Angeles counties early Friday is headed that way.
 
The National Weather Service says a winter storm warning will last until at least 10 p.m.
 
CHP officers and police throughout Southern California say the rain, hail, lightning and snow caused traffic crashes, spinouts and stalls.
