Suspect in custody after high-speed chase on SR-94; officers say driver rolled vehicle

CHP: Suspect was clocked driving 120 MPH

SAN DIEGO - The California Highway Patrol said it was involved in high-speed pursuit Tuesday involving a car driving on state Route 94 in San Diego.

CHP said the pursuit began on southbound Interstate 5 near Old Town after a patrol officer clocked the car traveling more than 120 mph. 

According to CHP officials, the driver then turned onto SR-94 eastbound and was pursued by a patrol car until the CHP unit experienced a tire problem and backed off near Broadway. 

The driver continued on until the vehicle rolled as the driver tried to navigate the off-ramp at Massachusetts Avenue.

10News has learned the suspected driver ran off on foot, but was apprehended by off-duty officers who spotted him hiding under another vehicle.

He was arrested and faces a charge of felony evading, according to officers.
