FALLBROOK - Authorities are investigating how a teen boy was killed in Fallbrook overnight Monday.
At 12:28 a.m. Tuesday California Highway Patrol responded to a 911 call about a driver who had allegedly run over a body on Fallbrook Street, near Shady Glen Drive, in a 2004 Honda Civic.
Troopers and paramedics arrived to find the victim deceased.
The driver, a 36-year-old security guard, claimed he was unaware a person was lying in the road when he struck him.
CHP officers at the scene told 10News the victim’s body was likely there before he was hit by the security guard. They are investigating whether he was already dead before being struck by the Civic.
The San Diego Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as a 17 year-old Alfonso Martinez Wednesday. An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death.
Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Oceanside police at 760-757-1675.
