CHP: 1 traffic death over New Year's weekend

SAN DIEGO - A single traffic fatality occurred in the San Diego area over the long New Year's weekend, the California Highway Patrol announced Wednesday.
During the same 102-hour period, CHP officers arrested 86 motorists on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in the county, according to the state agency.
Across California, auto accidents claimed 19 lives between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 a.m. Tuesday, and the Highway Patrol took 1,273 DUI suspects into custody.
