Chargers fans prepare for road trip to Cincinnati to support team

AER Travel has game tickets, hotel, party booked

SAN DIEGO - Some San Diego Chargers fans are preparing to make the trip to Cincinnati to support their team in the NFL playoffs this weekend.

The Chargers defied the odds with an improbable run to the postseason, which culminated in a thrilling overtime win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Qualcomm Stadium Sunday.

Kurt Ergene was wearing a Chargers jersey while tailgating at Qualcomm Stadium prior to Monday night's Holiday Bowl. The thought of getting ready for a possible Super Bowl run excited him.

"Rivers ... great job! Right there, big cat. We had a nail-biter toward the end, but we won. We're in the playoffs and we're ready to rock and roll. Let's go!" Ergene said.

It was an up-and-down season throughout, but many true fans never gave up, including Jeanie Araujo.

"I think they're great. That had to be the best game ever and they are going to go all the way this year!" she told 10News.

Araujo's husband, Alex, added, "Oh my goodness, that was such an awesome game! We were all rooting, my wife and I. It's an awesome game. We're ready for next week!"

The official Bolt Brigade road trip is all set. AER Travel has choice tickets on hold, plus accommodations and a mega-party.

The cost? It will be $749 per person, double occupancy. Air travel is not included.

President Gil Saidy told 10News, "We're staying at the team hotel, great seats at Paul Brown Stadium and if anyone hasn't been to a road playoff game, it's something you'll never forget ... The game is Sunday morning so we leave Saturday, most of us. It's really kind of 'get there as you can' because the flights are tough. You can fly into Cincinnati or Dayton. Dayton's only 20 minutes longer drive."

The atmosphere is electric when your team goes into the postseason. The Chargers are there again this year and their fans are ecstatic.

Fan Bill Berman summed it up: "Chargers football ... playoffs! First year for the coaching staff; great change. Couldn't ask for any better!"
