SAN DIEGO -

A car driven by a suspected drunken driver, with her son on board, hit a man crossing Mission Bay Drive, inflicting serious head injuries on the victim, a police officer said Sunday.

The crash was reported at 10:21 p.m. Saturday at Mission Bay Drive and Damon Avenue in Pacific Beach, said San Diego police Officer David Stafford.

The 54-year-old driver had her 13-year-old son with her in her 2006 Volkswagen Beetle, Stafford said.

"She was arrested for driving under the influence," he said.

The injured pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was taken to a hospital, Stafford said. The SDPD traffic division was investigating the incident.
