SAN DIEGO - San Diegans on Saturday stepped up to help in the fight against cancer. Hundreds attended the 18th annual Celebration of Champions in the Embarcadero Marina Park North.
About 120 children who either have cancer or are survivors as well as their families and supporters participated in the "Torch of Life" relay. Family members who had lost children carried photos of them during a special lap.
A balloon ceremony was also held to honor the children who have passed on.
Chase Headley, Will Venable and Logan Forsythe were among the 15 San Diego Padres players who showed up to the event.
The purpose of the event is to raise money for the Rady Children's Hospital cancer care center.
