RANCHO BERNARDO, Calif. - Police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a series of home robberies in Rancho Bernardo -- a man whose face was captured on surveillance video.
"He's wanted in connection with a residential burglary that occurred on February 6th of this year, which was a Thursday," said San Diego Police Department Lt. Kevin Mayer.
On Feb. 6, at around 10 a.m., at least four homes were robbed in the 17000 block of Bernardo Center Drive, just north of Rancho Bernardo Road, while the residents were gone.
"He entered through an unlocked garage door," said Mayer.
According to police, the suspect appeared to have been targeting small items such as jewelry. He was seen leaving the area on a motorcycle (sport bike style).
In this case, the value added up to about $50 in costume jewelry. But several homes were hit about the same time that day and all were within a short distance of each other.
"There was a total of four places that had been burglarized in that same area so he could very well be a suspect in those as well," said Mayer.
10News talked with neighbors who did not want to go on camera, but all were surprised to hear the news.
"We really need to remind ourselves to lock our doors, lock our garage doors," said one resident.
