SAN DIEGO - A car that was stolen in Chollas View with three children inside has been located and the driver, a teenage girl, has been taken into custody.
The vehicle was stopped at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday near Acorn Street east of College Avenue after leading California Highway Patrol officers on a brief pursuit. Police say the driver struck a curb near Acorn Street and crashed, causing front-end damage to the car.
All three children – aged 1, 3 and 7 – are safe and have been reunited with their parents. A dog that was inside the vehicle is also safe.
The car, a gray Dodge Magnum, was stolen near 47th and Market streets just before 5:40 p.m.
Police say the father was driving the car when he stopped at a business. He went inside to get the children's mother. While inside the business, he heard the car starting up and ran out to see it driving away.
