Car sought in Christmas Eve slayings in Mission Valley parking lot found in Riverside

Unidentified male body found inside Toyota Camry

RIVERSIDE, CALIF. - Today at about 12:30 p.m. the City of Riverside Police Department informed the San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit that a vehicle sought in connection with the Christmas Eve murders of two people in a Mission Valley mall parking lot had been located in the 19500 block of Van Buren Boulevard, in the City of Riverside. Officers also located a male body inside of the car.

On Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at 1:15 a.m., the San Diego Police Department located 22-year-old Salvatore Belvedere and 22-year-old Ilona Flint in a vehicle near 1600 Camino Del Rio North. Both had sustained gunshot wounds and were pronounced deceased.

Since that incident, Salvatore’s brother, 24-year-old Gianni Belvedere, became a missing person. Crime Stoppers flyers were handed out asking for the public’s help in finding Gianni along with a possible vehicle, a 2004 dark green Toyota Camry with a license plate of Utah B154VZ.

San Diego Police Department homicide detectives have arrived at the scene and are working in concert with Riverside Police Department investigators.

The Riverside County Coroner has identified the body as that of a 24-year-old man and listed him as being the victim of a homicide.

The identity of the decedent and the manner of death is unknown at this time.
