Car slams into Subway shop in Central San Diego, driver hospitalized

Vehicle ended up inside Euclid Avenue store

SAN DIEGO - Police say a suspected drunken driver slammed into a Subway sandwich shop in the 1700 block of Euclid Avenue early Sunday.

The crash occurred at about 1:10 a.m. The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Damage to the store was severe. After an assessment of the structure, a city inspector says the building was deemed safe.

No other injuries were reported. The store was closed at the time of the crash.
