SAN DIEGO - A motorcyclist in the hospital Thursday after a car slammed into him on the southbound Interstate 5 in Barrio Logan.
The crash happened at around 10 p.m. Wednesday at the I-5 and I-15 exchange.
The impact threw the rider into lanes and ripped his motorcycle apart. Pieces were scattered over the freeway and traffic was stopped so paramedics can treat the man.
The California Highway Patrol said they were looking into witness reports that two vehicles were speeding and racing each other on the freeway when one of the cars struck the motorcyclist. The drivers left the scene.
