Car involved in fatal hit-and-run in Rancho Bernardo sought

SAN DIEGO - Authorities on Monday released a more detailed description of a car involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a UC San Diego professor on a Rancho Bernardo roadside over the weekend.

Anouchka Mihaylova, 62, was walking on a sidewalk in the 11800 block of Rancho Bernardo Road with her husband when a westbound silver- or pewter-colored 2005 or 2006 Nissan Altima jumped the curb and hit her shortly before 8:30 p.m. Saturday, according to police. Mihaylova died at the scene, according to the county Medical Examiner's Office.

The driver fled following the crash, leaving behind a broken-off side view mirror from the vehicle's passenger side. The car also was believed to have sustained damage to the right front fender and along the passenger side.
