SUV, FedEx truck collide in Kearny Mesa

SAN DIEGO - Two people were hospitalized after a collision involving an SUV and a FedEx truck at a Kearny Mesa intersection.

The crash was reported at about 5:45 p.m. at Ruffin Road and Chesapeake Drive, according to San Diego police.

Police said a woman driving a GMC SUV on Ruffin Road when she ran a red light and struck the truck, which was heading west on Chesapeake Drive.

The collision caused both vehicles to overturn, and police said the GMC's driver was trapped in her vehicle. Fire crews responded and cut the roof off the GMC to get the woman out.

The woman and the FedEx truck's driver were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A passenger in the FedEx truck was not hurt.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
