SAN DIEGO - A car crashed into a hydrant in Oak Park on Monday.

The crash occurred in the 3400 block of College Avenue at about 7:15 p.m., sending water into the air and creating traffic problems.

Witnesses say another driver ran a red light and sent the car headed for the hydrant. Workers at a nearby restaurant told 10News Monday's incident is the second time the hydrant has been hit in three weeks.

A man and his young daughter were trapped inside the car after the crash. The girl was locked in a car seat in the back.

"Tried to unlock the car and then get out," said Bunthoeun Cheng. "Somebody came. Is anybody in the back? I said, 'Oh yeah, my daughter.'"

The man and his 4-year-old daughter were able to get out of the car unhurt.
