SAN DIEGO - A family escaped injury Wednesday night, when a car slammed into their City Heights apartment building.
The San Diego Police Department said the wreck occurred at 10:15 p.m. at a two-story complex at Menlo Avenue and Olive Street.
The driver told 10News crews at the scene that his Honda Accord lost power, which resulted in a brake and steering failure.
The man's family was also in the car as it coasted down Olive Street and through Menlo Avenue before crashing into the building.
The crash put a large hole in the bedroom wall of one unit, pushing a bed and a sleeping mother several feet from the inside wall.
The woman was not hurt, but told her daughter that she thought it was an earthquake.
The occupants of the car were not hurt.
